Rooted & Rising is part community building, part dream incubator, part leadership development for young people engaged in organizing, activism, healing and the arts. Through an opening retreat and monthly gatherings, participants build relationships with a dynamic group of peers, cultivate transformative skills and practices, and receive support on their life and purpose projects.
WHO
Young adults ages 18 - 25 living in the East Bay that are engaged in some form of community activism, political organizing, arts, healing, climate action and/or justice work.
WHEN
February 2024 - June 2024
Rooted & Rising Retreat
Friday, February 23 - Sunday, February 25, 2024
Location: Haven Retreat Center in Grass Valley, CA (carpools from the East Bay)
A weekend retreat of community building, leadership development, visioning and creative expression in a beautiful nature-based setting.
Thrive East Bay Community Gathering
Date will be scheduled w/ members of the cohort
Location: East Bay
A gathering where cohort members will share stories and highlights from our retreat with members of the Thrive community, and a networking opportunity for receiving support.
Monthly Cohort Sessions
Two hour sessions. Dates will be scheduled w/ members of the cohort.
Location: Rotating virtual and in-person

The costs for this program will be fully covered for all accepted applicants.

FAQs
Do I have to live in the East Bay?
If you live in San Francisco or another part of the greater Bay Area, you are also welcome to apply. We are not currently accepting applications from young people in other locations at this time.
Do I have to be 18 - 25 years old?
If you are a little younger or older than our 18 - 25 year old range, you are welcome to apply and we will consider your application.
What size will the cohort be?
We will be accepting 10 - 12 participants.
Can I participate if I can’t make the Feb dates for the Rooted & Rising retreat?
The opening retreat from February 23 - 25, 2024 is a foundational part of building the relationships and culture of this cohort. Sadly, if you are not able to make these dates, you will not be able to participate in this cohort.
